The Burning Ridge history originally began as a 36-hole course, divided into an East course and a West course. The West course was closed for residential development in 2005, at which time the East course underwent extensive renovation.
1980 – Opened.
2005 – Underwent extensive renovations to the East course to make it less “difficult.” Trees and bunkers were removed, making the course much more playable while remaining “challenging.”
2006 – On the heels of the 2005 renovation, Burning Ridge won “Golf Course of the Year” awards by the South Carolina Golf Course Owners Association and the Myrtle Beach Area Golf Course Owners Association. The awards were based on four criteria: exceptional quality of the golf course, exceptional quality of the ownership and management, outstanding contribution to the community, and significant contribution to the game.
2014 – Burning Ridge Golf Club was purchased by Yiqian Funding, which has formed Founders Group International.
