A mile in from Highway 501 in central Myrtle Beach, Burning Ridge Golf Club is a popular destination for visitors just coming into town or leaving to go back home. But the backbone of this Myrtle Beach golf course is our extensive membership from the nearby community and beyond. Burning Ridge is a hub of activity for golfers wanting to join in with others for fun and camaraderie.
Designed by Gene Hamm, the Burning Ridge 18-hole, par 72 course is what was formerly known as the East Course when the club opened as a 36-hole course in 1980. When the West course was closed in 2005 and developed for residential housing, the East course, then known as a “difficult” course, underwent extensive renovations to make it much more playable while remaining “challenging.”
On the heels of that major renovation came two prestigious “Golf Course of the Year” awards: one by the South Carolina Golf Course Owners Association and the other by the Myrtle Beach Area Golf Course Owners Association. The awards were based on four criteria: exceptional quality of the golf course, exceptional quality of the ownership and management, outstanding contribution to the community, and significant contribution to the game.
Today the Burning Ridge course is known for having a character of its own, and the challenge-to-fun ratio is just right. The course offers golfers a good variety of holes from all four of its tees. It’s a tough course from the Black tees but fair from the Amateur, Women’s, and Senior tees. The course is also known as a very woman-friendly course, as evidenced by our thoughtfully laid out women’s tees and our significant female membership.
What we hear the most from our customers is “This is such a fun layout!” It’s the kind of course you want to play every day – this might be why our membership level is so high. It is said that if you can play well here, you can play well anywhere. We invite you to come see for yourself.
All of our greens are TifEagle Bermuda and are elevated, so they drain very quickly when it rains. Our popular practice facility is all grass, and it features a large putting green and a separate pitching and chipping area with a practice bunker, and a three-tier tee box out on the practice range.
“Ensuring lifelong, loyal relationships with our guests” is Burning Ridge Golf Club’s heartfelt mission, and this guides our actions every single day. We embrace a philosophy of always moving forward, continuing to offer a better experience for our members. We’re constantly making subtle improvements to the course, updating the clubhouse, and thinking up engaging activities for our members.
We at Burning Ridge are big believers in serving the community, and our numerous local charity tournaments have become staples on the golf calendar. We run more tournaments than most in the Grand Strand area.
Our sleek, spacious, modern-style clubhouse, with its large outdoor-seating pavilion, was designed to accommodate large events, and we are known for our ability to host customized events of all kinds, from tournaments to reunions to HOA meetings.
In our large, sociable grill area, you will want to add to the friendly banter while enjoying drinks from our full bar, domestic or imported beer, and American-style breakfast or lunch.
All of our golf pros are young graduates of the Golf Academy who intend to pursue PGA Class A membership and make a career in the golf industry. They all give lessons and spontaneously impart their passion for the game. We specialize in the “20-Minute Lesson” – an efficient way to work on a special skill, including full swing, short game, trouble shots, game management, and advanced player management.
Burning Ridge’s spacious pro shop carries a full complement of golf items with an ever-evolving list of brands. Our goal is to keep merchandise moving, so we keep our profit margins low. Most of our products, especially the Nike brand items are cheaper than you’ll find in the superstores. If you’re looking for Nike products in particular, Burning Ridge is the place to shop!
